Job Description

Why You’ll Love This Role
This is a hands-on role where you’ll play a key part in delivering high-quality meals that support our community. Working closely with the Head Chef, you’ll contribute to large-scale food production while maintaining strong food safety standards and efficient kitchen operations.
You’ll be part of a collaborative team environment, supporting kitchen coordination, stock management, and continuous improvement in food service delivery.

  • Understudy the Head Chef. 

  • Assist in the preparation of meals to be offered via the Community Foods operations in consultation with the Head Chef. 

  • Assist with administration duties in conjunction with Head Chef.

  • Work in a cold environment

  • Providing direction to the kitchen attendants in the undertaking of their duties. 

  • Maintaining a safe and secure working environment within the kitchen. 

  • Maintaining Food Safety requirements, HACCP and ensuring adherence to relevant legislation. 

  • Support the effective management of food costs. 

  • Pack meals ready for distribution to clients

Qualifications

What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for a reliable and team-focused chef who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You’ll ideally bring:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
  • 2–5 years commercial kitchen experience Specifically Cook/Chill Process, Allergen Management
  • Competent in basic Microsoft Office applications (or similar), particularly: Outlook (email) Word (documents, procedures) Excel (simple data entry, logs, or checklists)
  • Stock control & ordering
  • Manual handling awareness
  • Cleaning & sanitation regimes
  • Record keeping
