About the role

The Salvation Army Perth Fortress is seeking a friendly, community-minded Barista/All Rounder to support the welcoming, inclusive environment of the Coffee Booth Café. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with people, providing warm customer service, and contributing to a space where community, care and hospitality come together.

This casual position offers approximately 16.5 hours per week across Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday (9:00am-2:30pm), with occasional Sunday coverage from 9:00am-12:30pm as required. Hours will be a minimum of 16.5 increasing up to 20 per week depending on operational needs. Pay is in accordance with the Level 3 Hospitality Award + 25% casual loading.

How you will make an impact

  • Provide warm, friendly and attentive customer service to all visitors
  • Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, beverages and simple food items
  • Maintain a clean, safe and welcoming café environment
  • Support volunteers by providing guidance, training and task delegation
  • Assist with stock rotation, ordering checks and daily food preparation
  • Uphold safe food handling practices and café hygiene standards
  • Handle cash and EFTPOS transactions accurately and responsibly
  • Contribute to a positive, community-focused atmosphere within the café

What you will bring

  • Experience in customer service, hospitality or café environments
  • Barista skills and confidence preparing a range of hot beverages
  • Experience supervising or supporting volunteers (desirable)
  • Strong communication skills and a warm, welcoming approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
  • Safe food handling knowledge and commitment to hygiene standards
