Cafe Manager, Cafe Assistant

We are seeking a vibrant, proactive, superstar Assistant Café Manager at our riverside café.

Candidates must have valid work rights in Australia.

Canning River Cafe is for people by people, our food policy is 'one table - all full', we look after everyone. We are located at the edge of parkland close to the Canning River and have a community of regulars and lots of new people every day landing at our counter. Our business is developing and expanding and we are seeking an experienced Assistant Cafe Manager to assist in guiding and supporting the development of our team and our offerings, we specialise in Gluten Free and Dairy Free products.

Reporting directly to the Cafe Manager and Cafe Owner you will provide support across all areas of Café operations including cleaning & hygiene, barista work & training, product stock control, front facing customer service and support with kitchen development.

Advanced barista skills are essential for providing barista work and training across café operations.

You will work hand in hand alongside the Cafe Manager and the highly productive team and offer 'hands on' support and be operationally efficient at all aspects of the store ensuring productivity and profitability.

In collaboration with the Cafe Manager and Owner you will be responsible for the maintenance and delivery of:

  • Writing of rosters and shift planning;
  • Accurately recording sales and banking;
  • Recruiting, inducting, training and exiting employees
  • Controlling cost of goods (COG's) expenditures through the development and use of effective par levels;
  • Controlling cost of employment (COE) expenditures through effective rostering and running of shifts;
  • Maintaining stock control through recording & monitoring wastage, accurate monthly stock takes, effective ordering/receiving and storage procedures;
  • Training and ongoing development of all team members;
  • Ensuring daily and weekly systems and procedures are completed to a high level of presentation, hygiene, service, product quality and security;
  • Performing administrative duties in conjunction with the Cafe Manager i.e. collecting invoices, recording of food safety requirements etc;
  • Hygiene and Food Safety implementation, maintenance and consistency
  • Food safety certification must be obtained before starting in this position
  • Fine tuning systems and process to ensure greater consistency

You will have experience in a similar role (minimum 3 years) and a passion for quality coffee, food and extraordinary customer service.

Experience managing teams of 10 or more members is required for this position.
