We are seeking a Head Chef to take the reigns in our boutique hospital kitchen, delivering a high-quality room service style menu to patients. You will support the Manager Support Services in providing leadership to the divisional catering and food services teams and maintaining high levels of food quality and service consistent with SJGHC standards.

The role is offered on a permanent full time basis.

The Position Head Chef

  • Develop and maintain a culture of service excellence and sustainable patient satisfaction and employee engagement.

  • Adherence to SJGHC menu control standards and Food Safety Programme, ensuring that all meals are delivered and presented in accordance with the requirements of the customer.

  • Support the Manager Support Services with effective recruitment, on-boarding and ongoing training as identified and required.

  • Conduct performance reviews ensuring all Caregiver’s under management have an appropriate performance development plan.

  • Display proactive leadership to the team including spending a significant portion of each day with Caregivers and active participation in meal preparation, across all sections covering diets, cold larder, pastries, general preparation, presentation and texture of meals.

  • Daily planning and management for the operational areas of the Catering Services Department, including preparation of rosters and maintain efficient and cost effective resources within budget.

You will hold a Trade qualification as a Chef, Commercial Cookery or similar with significant catering team leadership experience from within a large food service environment.

To succeed you will have proven management experience in kitchen administration, financial and compliance controls with a high-level of interpersonal and communication skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills. You will have the ability to prepare written reports, instructions, procedures and business correspondence with sound skills in the use of every day office technology and related software packages.

  • Salary: $90,757 to $93,250 plus 11.5% superannuation

  • Full-Time position
