The Role
As the Head Barista/Assistant Venue Manager you are responsible for the day-to-day coffee related operations of Little Bay, both dine in and takeaway, as well as assisting in the overall venue management.
Little Bay trades 7 days per week, breakfast and lunch services. Occasional evenings for functions and events will be required. Shifts will generally range between 5.30am and 4.30pm and will include weekends. This role enables a true 38 hour working week with supportive owners and executive management team.
Key responsibilities:
Head Barista
- Preparing coffees and other related beverages to a high standard of taste and quality.
- Offering recommendations to customers and answering any questions regarding product.
- Managing orders for stock and coffee supplies.
- Maintenance of coffee machine, and other related equipment. Organise servicing and repairs where needed.
- Assistance with trialling and hiring, and onboarding and rostering when required.
- Train and set standards for other Baristas. This includes providing information on recipes, dosing, and upskilling on shift.
- Monitor and maintain hygiene and cleaning standards throughout both coffee areas, including completion of compliance records.
- Liaise with coffee roaster and other members of management to ensure the smooth running of operations and consistency in the delivery of quality products.
Assistant Venue Manager
- Opening and closing the venue as and when required.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers.
- Ensuring staff culture and team moral is always high.
- Communicating updates to processes and procedures efficiently and training staff closely when changes are implemented.
- Updating and maintaining POS system, including backend editing (ABACUS), and assisting on training staff on the system.
- Responding to bookings and event enquiries (assisting to manage the enquiries inbox and voicemail).
- Foster a positive working relationship with the kitchen team.
- Motivate and inspire the team to deliver high service standards, and to deal with conflict resolution with utmost professionalism.
What you will bring:
- At least 2 years’ experience as a Head Barista OR Assistant Venue Manager in a similar venue.
- An Unrestricted Approved Managers Card.
- Strong business acumen, KPI driven and results focused.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
