About the role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Permanent Part-Time Cook with no work restrictions to join our friendly team at our beautiful Aegis Banksia Park facility in Calista.

If you have a genuine enthusiasm for preparing nutritious, high-quality meals for elderly residents and previous experience working in an aged care kitchen, we encourage you to apply.

Week 1: Thursday, Friday and Monday -  06:00 - 14:00

Week 2: Thursday, Monday and Tuesday - 06:00 - 14:00

Role responsibilities/duties

A working day will involve:

  • Organising kitchen staff in the preparation and serving of meals.
  • Preparing resident’s meals according to dietary plans and menus developed.
  • Managing receipt of stores, and food storage according to the relevant regulations.
  • Ensuring correct food handling techniques are always observed.
About you

You should ideally be an empathetic person who:

  • Enjoys working with the elderly.
  • Can work independently and as part of a team.
  • Is able to supervise, organise and guide staff, to deliver high quality catering outcomes.
  • Has availability and flexibility to work a variety of shifts over weekdays and weekends.
  • Can communicate effectively both verbally and written.

You should possess the following:

  • Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
  • Experience in food preparation and cooking for large number of people.
  • Aged Care experience (highly regarded).
  • A high level of food safety knowledge.
  • Full Australian working rights and able to pass national police clearance.

Location 

Calista is a suburb surrounded by natural bushland. Aegis Banksia Park have used this connection to name each of the areas or wings after native flora. There are Acacia, Boronia, Grevillea, Waratah, Banksia and the recently renovated and extended Rosella and Myrtle. Aegis Banksia Park is an ageing in place facility and both High and Low Care accommodation is available in all areas. Acacia and Waratah offer specialist secure Dementia Care.

Accommodation comprises of single and double rooms with large ensuite bathrooms and air conditioning. The different areas or wings all have lounge and dining areas and access to courtyard areas.
