About the Role
Ngala is currently recruiting for 2x Permanent Part-time Chefs to lead food service operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, nutritious meals that meet the diverse needs of our clients across our Residential Parenting Service and Childcare. This role is responsible for maintaining exceptional food safety standards, efficient stock management, and providing effective team, contributing to a positive and supportive environment.
What You’ll Do
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Meal planning and preparation for families in the Residential Parenting Service families and Early Learning and Development service children
• Stock Management and Procurement – Ensuring timely and accurate forecasting of food requirements and placing timely orders with supplierswithin a set budget.
• Supervision and mentorship of kitchen staff.
• Food Safety and Hygiene – Ensuring strict adherence to all food safety regulations and guidelines, maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment, ensuring all equipment and utensils are sanitised and in good working order
What We’re Looking For
• Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or extensive industry experience in a similar position
• Food Safety Supervisor Certification (SITSS00069 Food Safety Supervision Skill Set or equivalent)
• Understanding of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) Principles
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience as a Chef in a hospital or similar setting.
• Empathy and understanding of the dietary and hydration needs of families and children.
• Experience in menu planning, food preparation, and nutrition specific to infants and children.
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in food handling and kitchen management.
• Experience in working within a budget and supervising staff.
• Commitment to continuous improvement in care standards.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to a positive work environment.
• Hold or be willing to obtain a National Police Check issued within the last 6 months.
• Current Working with Children Check.
As part of our commitment to being a Child Safe organisation, successful candidates are required to provide their Immunisation History Statement.
While immunisations are highly encouraged, they are not mandatory. This information will help us assess and implement appropriate safety measures for everyone.
