Nobu is renowned for its Japanese-inspired cuisine and joining their culinary team as a Commis Chef would be a fantastic experience. As a Commis Chef at Nobu, you’ll have the chance to learn from some of the best chefs in the business. Your responsibilities may include preparing and cooking food under the supervision of more experienced chefs and ensuring proper food storage. Attention to detail is crucial in creating exceptional dishes that delight guests.

In this role, you’ll provide joyful experiences through your genuine care for guests. As well as:

  • Work closely with team members across this team.
  • Assist senior chefs in food preparation.
  • Ensuring food are prepared up to standard.

About you

  • Specialty in Japanese cuisine – Desirable
  • Prior experience is a similar role – Desirable.
  • Attention to detail.

Job Description

NOBU, a renowned Japanese restaurant located in Burswood, Australia, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Commis Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. As a Commis Chef, you will play a vital role in supporting our experienced chefs in the preparation of exceptional Japanese cuisine.

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients and mise en place for service
  • Follow recipes and instructions from senior chefs to ensure consistent quality and presentation
  • Maintain a clean and organised work station and adhere to strict food safety and hygiene standards
  • Participate in the plating and garnishing of dishes for service
  • Support the team during service by assisting with tasks such as expediting, restocking, and cleaning
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop culinary skills under the guidance of experienced chefs

Desired Experience & Skills 

  • Strong culinary skills with a focus on food preparation, cooking techniques, and knife skills
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately
  • Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Prior experience in a professional kitchen or culinary setting (preferred)
  • Culinary training or education (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Japanese cuisine and cooking techniques (preferred)
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and maintain a positive attitude

Qualifications

Certificate 3 & 4 Commercial Cookery
