We are friendly café located in Scarborough, committed to delivering exceptional coffee and hospitality. Our team values quality, consistency and a genuine connection with our community. The Porch is on the hunt for a Head Barista to step into a leadership role and drive our coffee program.

Key Responsibilities 

* Permanent part-time position (30 hours / week). We are seeking the right candidate, ready to commit to the role and assist growing the business. 

* Lead day-to-day coffee operations: ability to work solo on the machine, as well as in a team. 

* Provide excellent customer service: build relationships with regulars, and set the tone for the team.

* Maintain and undertake minor servicing of coffee equipment 

* Design drink specials and assist with marketing and promotions.

* Train, develop and mentor barista staff to strengthen skills and grow the team.

* Liaise between staff and management: act as the point of contact to maintain smooth operations.

* Assist in the kitchen, prepping cabinet goods, drinks and simple breakfast menu items. 

* Maintain cleanliness and aesthetics of The Porch.

What we’re looking for

* Minimum 2 years of barista experience, with proven latte art skills and coffee machine competence.

* Experience in maintaining coffee equipment (cleaning and minor repairs).

* Ability to handle solo machine duties during busy service.

* Leadership or supervisory experience preferred, as you’ll be guiding and developing others.

* A passion for hospitality and coffee culture: you enjoy the craft as well as the guest experience.

* Excellent communication, reliability, initiative and a positive team-oriented mindset.

* Must be available at least one weekend day.
