Job Description

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Commis Chef to join our vibrant Kitchen team at Oaks Broome Hotel.

In this full-time role, you will assist in day-to-day kitchen operations across our Restaurant, Conferences and Events, and Room Service facilities. You will report directly to the Executive Chef, contributing to the preparation and presentation of high-quality dishes in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items in line with recipes and presentation standards.
  • Support the smooth operation of the kitchen during service across the restaurant, events, and room service.
  • Maintain kitchen hygiene standards and comply with HACCP and OH&S guidelines.
  • Assist in the training, coaching, and mentoring of junior kitchen staff.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure efficient service delivery and a positive work environment.
  • Adapt to various shifts, including weekends and special events as required.

Salary: $75,000 - $80,000 (excluding superannuation)

Expected hours: 38 hours per week

Qualifications

  • Relevant Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar kitchen role.
  • Knowledge of Modern Australian cuisine.
  • Understanding of HACCP standards and OH&S requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure in a dynamic team environment.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to be flexible across a variety of shifts.
