Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital
Are you a passionate, hands-on Chef who takes pride in creating high-quality meals that make a real difference? We’re looking for an enthusiastic culinary professional to bring skill, creativity, and care to our hospital kitchen team at St John of God Midland Hospital.
In this role, you will work across all sections of the kitchen, preparing and serving delicious, nutritious food for our patients, visitors, and staff. You will play a key part in maintaining our reputation for excellence, ensuring every plate meets the highest standards of taste, presentation, and quality.
You will also uphold all Health Department of Western Australia (HDWA) regulations and follow our Hospital Food Safety Management Plan, ensuring the highest levels of hygiene, safety, and compliance at all times.

The Position
The successful applicant will hold a minimum Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent) and possess sound knowledge of safe food handling processes, including HACCP and food safety standards. You will have proven experience working in the cooking or catering department of a reputable restaurant or hospitality establishment, demonstrating expertise in both Cook Chill and Cook Fresh food production systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, along with the ability to lead and motivate a team effectively. The candidate should also have a good understanding of normal and modified diets, including the preparation of thickened fluids, ensuring meals meet a variety of dietary needs in line with best practice and safety guidelines. Over 5 years previous experience with special diets/IDSI knowledge would be highly desirable.
