Founded in 1983, Swan Christian College is a co-educational Christian school in Swan Valley, educating around 1,600 students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Part of the largest independent Christian education network in Western Australia, the College focuses on developing character and academic excellence through its values of respect, integrity, spirituality, and excellence.

We are seeking an energetic and friendly Barista to join our dynamic hospitality team commencing as soon as you’re available. This is a casual position, with flexible times.

Prepare and serve a variety of hot drinks at our popular How ya Bean? Coffee shop on school mornings. If you are a Barista who thrives on hospitality, building positive relationships with students, and contributing to a supportive school community, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Greet customers warmly, take orders, and identify their coffee preferences while delivering exceptional, Christ-like service.
  • Prepare and serve drinks following set recipes and maintain coffee supplies as needed.
  • Operate, clean, and troubleshoot coffee machines and related equipment to ensure smooth operation.
  • Uphold food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards in line with College policies and health regulations.
  • Confidently use EFTPOS and assist with setup and pack-down of signage, machines, and equipment.
  • Represent the College professionally, follow safety procedures, identify potential hazards, and complete other duties as directed by the Line Manager.

Selection Criteria:

Essential:

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to Jesus Christ and actively participate in a Christian church community.
  • Accept and live in alignment with the Association’s Statement of Faith, Foundational Beliefs, and Educational Objectives.
  • Build and maintain strong, healthy relationships with families, College staff, and SCEA Head Office personnel.
  • Exhibit exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Display strong problem-solving abilities, sound judgment, and initiative, even under time pressure.
  • Hold a current Working with Children card and a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check as required by WA education standards.

Desirable:

  • Barista training.
  • Friendly, positive and customer-focused attitude.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and presentation skills.
